Worst Holiday Party Ever
January 10th 2008 by Leisa in generalThere was a budget for my companies holiday party this year. The result was a mandatory attendance at a pool hall and a pool tournament. There is nothing about pool, competition, forced workplace socialization that has any appeal to me.
I’m sure that there are people who like playing pool. I expect there is a huge gender bias. I also suspect that the people who like it feel successful at it and did not start playing against their will.
I chalk some of it to my preceived place on the Extraversion-Introversion Spectrum (far far to the Intro)
I’d like to leave you with some reading: Caring for Your Introvert
And assure you that really, I’d like to be left alone.

Hey Leisa,
That’s a great article on Introversion! I was recently re-reading notes from one of my counselling classes and came across my Myers-Briggs scores. I scored 13 on Introversion and 2 on Extroversion. INFP. Apparently we’re in the minority. Reading the ‘Caring for Your Introvert’ article was rather therapeutic as I’ve been a bit frustrated by my in-laws as of late. I find it really difficult to sit around discussing meaningless rubbish for much more than a half hour at a time. I think they think I’m a bit of a weirdo because I just take off for hours on end. It’s impossible for highly extroverted people to fathom why I find spending time alone much more enjoyable…
I really dislike pool too, by the way.
Anyways, hope you are well
Brad:)
