Pet Sounds

I’ve decided to call my kitty Sukhi.

Sukhi (Sanskrit) possessing or causing happiness or pleasure , happy , joyful , pleasant , comfortable , easy , a religious ascetic.

Sukhatva (Sanskrit) n. ease , comfort , delight , happiness , prosperity.

There were a number of things I didn’t anticipate in bringing a cat home. The first is how often I would be looking under my bed.

The second is how often I would be dragging ribbons and strings around the house so she can practice her cat skills. This one is blurry because I didn’t use a flash but you can see how intensely interesting she is in the activity.

The other thing I didn’t anticipate is how much I would make cat noises to talk to her. She is very vocal and will come running if I cat talk to her. This is what it sounds like when Sukhi wants me to play with her string and get off the computer. I think about half-way she walks over to the digital recorder and investigates.

Bagles

I’ve been making bagels on the weekends. They are fairly easy to make. There are a couple of ways to form them. Roll them into a tube and then press the ends together or roll them into a ball and poke a hole in them. This week made balls with holes and they made much prettier bagels.

When I was in high school I worked at Fredrico’s Pizza and I learned how not to hold a utility knife and how to hand toss pizzas. I was surprised when I made my bagel balls that I still had the muscle memory from the pizza tossing days.

Dough with Holes.

Ready for Soda Bath

Both sides

Put bagels on baking sheet. Sprinkle with toppings. I used Dipping Herbs.

YUM!

Very Geeky 2

I’m in Starteam training and the computers are intranet only so i’m on my Treo. I’m trying out the internet access this month which does make the device much more charming. In seattle I looked up an address while walking down the street.

Art Show This Weekend

I heard about an Tarot Related Art Show in Seattle three months ago. I made arrangements to interview the woman putting on the show because it makes interesting content for the podcast and the show is open to anyone who wanted to be part of it.

I got caught up in the excitement of it all and signed up to do two cards, despite the fact I wouldn’t call myself an artist. I procrastinated until the weekend before last. I got the materials and template ready but didn’t get the energy to clean up my workspace enough to start.

I usually start by re-creating the thing I want to make in Glass Eye. I did install it on my mac in paralells and started doing this. Part way through I decided I’d much rather have the whole image so I opened it in Photoshop and resized to to fit the frame. Then i cropped the picture down to printable sizes and taped them back together.

Normally I would take the glass out of the frame but it was so tight I was afraid I’d never get it back together.
