Boobie Trap

We had a private consultation with Feng-Shui Master, Eva Wong. We had been warned that we might have to put up mirrors and fountians eveywhere. But our house didn’t need that. Eva didn’t like our hallway lamp (and who could blame her). She thought it looked like a boobie trap, the way it was hanging down.  I’ve been wanting to get rid of it for years. So I got my ladder monkey to pull it down. When he was up there, he noticed that it was really only hanging from one bolt.

The chinese system uses 5 elements and they relate to each other in a specific way. Elements support or weaken each other. People have elemental protectors based on the year of birth and gender. Mine is one-white-water. Which is apparently a ‘weak’ protector.  Eva suggest that I place a metal statue near my bed since metal helps water.

I found an amazing silver White Tara statue on e-bay. Of all of the things we did (or still need to do) this one is my favorite.

Vacation Pics

After Estes Park we made our way up to Shambhala Mountain Center in Red Feather Lakes Colorado. Within a couple of hours the down pour started. We stayed in an army tent up on the mountain side in the Vajra Campground. (named after my car?)  The tents had bunks, coatracks and a bookshelf. My coat rack was touching the side of the tent so my clothes were totally soaked in the morning.

The program we went up for was called Running with the Mind of Meditation. We did yoga twice a day, meditated, and there was a run (or hike) on Saturday night.  We ran into a dozen people from Oregon doing other programs. Including Karuna Thompson & Irene Lundquist who we will see this weekend in prison.

Overlook Hotel

The air is very thin here. Went for a 30 min run. Flats and downhill is fine. Avoid hills.

I got the scoop on the Shining/Stanley/Timberline connection. The Stanley was the inspiration for the Steven King book. He sold the rights and the director Stanley Kubrick thought there wasn’t enough snow. The exterior shots were at Timberline. The rest at a set in England. There was a TV mini-series that was shot here. Strangely Stanley Kubrick has a Shambhala connection.

The truth of the thing is not the think of it but the feel of it. – Stanley Kubrick

There is a Starbuck in the basement of the Stanley Hotel. You can buy “redrum” chocolate bars.

Purple Mountians Magesty

Posting from my lifedrive at a coffee shop in Boulder. Its 6:30 am. Paul is sleeping ath the Briar Rose B&B.

I left for my 13th Anniversary trip without my sweetie yesterday. We had requested the time off, waited a couple of day and then booked the trip. A couple of hours after that, Paul got the word he had to be in court on the 5th. Our flight was at 9 There is a game in the courts to try to get the other side to delay or gain a technicality. No one thought he would have to testify but no one would release him either.

Paul got on a 2:30 flight. I drove out to DIA to get him. I saw Paul come up the escalators talking intenty to someone. Second glance a tibetan nun. How did he finda nun. Third glance it was Pema Chodron. A week ago we had talked about how it was likelywewould never meet her since she is leaving Gampo Abby and retiring. We helped Pema gather her bags and took them them to her car. She is going on a year long retreat.

Paul had been contemplating the fate. He felt fated to be on that flight and had been wondering if one of our flights was going to be fatal. (He claims this was playful.) It was a treat to meet Pema. I don’t think anything could have made him happier about the delay.  As a side note, we were parked in 4c (four-see) and our B&B is right across the street from Naropa.

We are planning on spending the morning in Boulder and then heading up to Estes Park. I’ve always wanted to stay at the Haunted Stanley Hotel. redrum…redrum…redum….

Portland with a Seattle map

Our trip this week has us at 8000 feet on the day we are supposed to run 15 miles. i found out they want me to run on the Kaiser Hood2Coast team. I felt very Motivated to get my run in early.

I ran from my house to NW 23rd. I was one of the only people out early on the 4th of July And got stopped for directions a few times. l was stopped At the end of my run by a family trying to get to the Lloyd Center. The were in the wrong qadrant and because.of the River and Bridges the were not going to stumble on it. i gave them directions to get across the river. They showed me a map. I looked at it for a few seconds and was not able to orient myself. I knew i wasn’t totally mentally sharp from the run but it didn’t make sense. I asked is this a Portand map? They were trying to navigate portland with a Seattle Map.
