City of the Future

Vancouver BC

Last week Paul and I went to Vancouver B.C. He needed company for the 7 hour drive. I had to promise not to shake KinderEggs at the border guards. We took our passports. Mine expires this summer, good riddance to that passport photo. I got it for a business trip to Mexico City when I worked as a defense contractor at ARINC. When I got it the year 2006 didn’t look like a year, so very abstract.

vancouver domeAll of the buildings downtown are the same color. It is spooky and looks Sci-Fi. The 86 expo dome adds to the effect.
Canadian English is not exactly like American English. I don’t mean CHEQUE/CHECK or even being oot and aboot (out and about). The use & pace is quite different. We have an awkard time ordering food. Something about the cadance and the order you request things always seems awkard. The poor waitress will look at us funny. We don’t have accents and don’t look like Foreigners but have a terrible time of it.

We stayed at the Plaza 500 which had the most expensive and worst internet service I’ve ever had. As a side note, if someone offer’s you a Caesar, say No!.

We went up because Paul was providing ‘close protection’ for Sakyong Mipham Rinpoche’s Ruling Your World Workshop.
