Stair Repair

Sandstone Stairs (10 pictures)

Down with stair carpet! I feel that carpet has no business on the stairs. I’d like to get rid of it all together. The stairs from the garage to the front entry/kitchen were the worst. Grimy and gray. Impossible to really shampoo & vacuum. Paul replaced them with sandstone.

Stage One was ripping off the carpet. The people who built the house didn’t bother to clean the construction debris from under the stairs. Paul made his custom boxes to make the steps stronger (Maltese style) then put down new boards. Sandstone was purchased from a landscaping shop. I picked out a really cool one with a fossil on it. The steps were cut with a wet saw and glued down. I painted the back boards and stained the trim.

My glass work bench has been buried in junk for too many months. Sunday I dug it out and started a mosaic project. I had some glue that was supposed to be for mosaics but three days later it still wasn’t dry. I got some new glue at Fred Meyer that seems to set fast and I don’t need a gas mask to use it.

I had some trouble last night at Body Pump during the chest track. I had crazy nerve pain in my left hand. I had problems holding the bar. I noticed slivers in my hand. I should have worn gloves (don’t tell Paul) I had a couple of dozen glass slivers in my hand. I had to pull them out with tweezers when I got home.
