Family Trip

Paul & I took a week long trip to see family in Arizona and Utah. We celebrated birthdays for Clayton, Naomi and Moriah. We took more pictures than anyone in their right mind would really want to look at. Paul was able to get himself out of the Dog House with Moriah. He has been the Naughty Uncle Po ever since he took Naomi and Anna to the park.

Finished!

The most exciting moment was at the beginning. Running down the bus mall with thousands of other people. Paul & I ran the first mile together. The start was kind of amazing and rush. We had been training for this since March and it was finally happening. The rest was pretty anti-climatic. As unlikely as it sounds, I felt good the entire for the whole race. I wore my heart-rate monitor and kept my heart rate within 5 beats per minute the entire time. I never hit the ‘wall’. The second toe on my right foot hurt a bit between mile 25.5 and 26 but that was it. Felt good enough afterwards to go out for dinner.

Packed and Ready?

Date: Sunday, October 3, 2004
Time: 7:00A.M. (wheelchair 6:59 A.M.)

I am carrying lemon-lime accelerade and black licorice (and motrin). Paul is going with orange accelerade and fruit leather. Had dinner at John Barley corn’s with Tim & Sue. We’ve packed our aide bag. Tim is going to meet us somewhere around the 18 mile mark. My alarm is set for 4 a.m. and we’ve set out our clothes.
