All I really have to show for it is one sore toe. The run started at the usual place, the Old Spaghetti Factory at 6 am today. The route went to the Marquam Bridge, back along the River to the Sellwood Bridge, through the Sellwood Neighborhood, over the Tacoma Bridge, through a Park, and finally a loop that touched Reed College and back to the Old Spaghetti Factory.

My hip felt fine. I went to my Kaiser Dr on Friday. Felt a little silly because its a 6 week injury. But she was really excited to seem me and the dr.’s aid wanted to talk about running too. Dr. Breadan had the exact same injury last year. She had ideas about shoes, homeopathic remedies, nutritional supplements and physical therapy.

Randy’s PNW Visit

Paul’s big brother Randy came to visit us for the first time from Frankfort, Kentucky. I am convinced there is something genetically wrong with them. They both prefer oatmeal to chocolate. Randy came Thursday and flew out of PDX at 8:30 this Morning (Tuesday 7/13/04). Paul took Randy on the whirl wind tour of the Pacific Northwest. From the Gorge to Ashland to Seattle in 6 days. We took 159 pictures. Just in case that exceeds your interest, the album attached to this entry has the highlights.

Multnomah Falls (20 pictures)
Japanese Gardens (23 pictures)
Ashland (21 pictures)
The Vortex and House of Mystery (16 pictures)
Crater Lake (36 pictures)
Seattle (40 pictures)

So I Married an Ogre

I got a call from Paul today saying he felt like an Ogre. We spent the last 3 days of our 4 day vacation working in the yard. The yard work was brutal. We got a unit of bark dust, trimmed all of the Rhododendrons and a couple of over grown cedar trees removed 4 bushes. Paul built a retaining wall, poured concrete steps and back filled the wall.

We celebrated our 11th anniversary on Friday. We had a ‘romance’ package at the
Hotel Oregon in McMinnville. Everyone we met that worked at the Hotel knew it was our anniversary. We ate dinner at the Rooftop Bar. We were had drinks inside while we waited for a table to open up. We jumped up at the same time as the group at the table next to us. We offered it to them and they asked us how long we had been married (strange question) I said 11 years today and they offered it back to us. 2 min later a bigger table opened up for their group.

We split a bottle of Edgefield extra dry Sparkling Wine on the 2nd Story Balcony and met people who bottled the wine.
