Solemnity celebrated on the 28th of June. It is instituted to honor St. Paul and to supply any deficiencies in the faithful celebration of saints’ feasts during the year. Related to All Saints Day which is November 1st.

Michael Wallish was the hero of All Paul’s Day. I ordered the ipod mini but was terribly back ordered. Michael was able to get one at the OHSU bookstore for me.

Saturday June 26th was concrete day and a day of celebration. There is now a safe and direct path to our front door again (first time since 2002). Tim & Brennan Mitchel helped. It happened very quickly, within an hour of start time. I barely had enough time to take a nap before it was over. My duties were domestic. I provided lunch and cookies.

The Helvetia Half Marathon was Saturday, June 19th. It is one on the benchmarks for our Portland Fit marathon training. The race started and finished at the Hillsboro Stadium. There were 9 aid stations along the course. I sustained an injury on June 5th, 3 miles into our 12 mile training run and had to walk back. Shooting pain up into my lower back and down my leg. From what I can tell from my research, I have a tight piriformis muscle that is pressing on my sciatic nerve. So I took 2 weeks off of running & cycling. I did walk, yoga, pilates, weight train. But when i did a 20 min. test run on Thursday, it was still a problem. The sensation before the pain was a hot wet pressure on my right hip. So I expected to walk the half-marathon. I decided to jog what I could until I felt the discomfort but it never came I took it really slow and walked up the big hill but finished.

Paul was the wild life photographer for this one. He had to break out the old Kodak because we lent out our new camera to Jon & Beth. I have a false sense of owning the land my house sits on. It seems I rent it from the local wild life.

I am fond of the chipmunks. When I see them on the front deck, I’ll go out and leave them sunflower seeds. This does hype them up a bit and they run around like they are slightly possessed. One jumped up on the ledge of the window and looked in the house. I am in no way responsible for the actions of this chipmunk. I was at work. I have witnesses for my alibi.

Chipmunks are small striped squirrels (genus Tamias) in North America.
